Get Involved at St John’s
Faith grows when it is lived.
St John’s is blessed with a rich life of service, prayer, and fellowship — and there is a place for you here.
Whether you prefer to be quietly supportive or actively hands-on, your gifts matter, and your presence enriches our community.
Serving at the Altar
The liturgy at St John’s is supported by dedicated lay ministers:
- Servers & Acolytes
- Readers & Intercessors
- Eucharistic Assistants (where authorised)
- Sacristy helpers
- Flower arrangers
If you feel drawn to serve in any of these ministries, we would love to speak with you.
Choir & Music
Music is central to our worship and spiritual life.
If you enjoy singing, reading music, or simply want to contribute to the musical life of the parish, please be in touch.
No auditions — just a warm welcome and a shared love of music.
Mothers’ Union (MU)
Our Mothers’ Union group is a cherished part of parish life, dedicated to prayer, fellowship, and service.
MU members:
- pray for families and the wider community
- support parish life
- gather for fellowship
- participate in diocesan MU initiatives
New members and visitors are always welcome.
Op Shop Volunteers
St John’s Op Shop is a much-loved ministry of hospitality and service to the local community.
Volunteers help with:
- customer care
- sorting and displays
- pricing and stock
- creating a welcoming atmosphere
If you have time during the week, even once a month, your contribution would be greatly appreciated.
Parish Council & Governance
Our Parish Council helps guide the mission and stewardship of St John’s.
If you are interested in assisting with leadership, administration, or parish projects, please speak with the Parish Priest or Wardens.
Prayer & Fellowship
Not all involvement requires a roster.
Our parish life is also strengthened by:
- those who pray regularly
- those who check in on neighbours
- those who help at working bees
- those who offer quiet support
- those who contribute to the life of worship with presence alone
Every act of love is part of our shared ministry.
How To Get Started
If you would like to join a ministry, explore your gifts, or find a gentle way to contribute:
We would love to help you find a place where your gifts — simple or spectacular — can flourish.
“There are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.” — 1 Corinthians 12:4
Your presence, your prayers, and your participation help St John’s shine with the light of Christ.
