Welcome to the St John’s Op Shop
For many years, the St John’s Op Shop has been a vibrant expression of our parish’s mission to the people of Ballarat and surrounding districts. Situated in our parish hall, the shop offers affordable clothing, furniture, and household items—providing quality goods at low cost for anyone who needs them.
But the Op Shop is more than a place to find a bargain. It’s a friendly, welcoming space where people from all walks of life can feel at home.
Serving Our Community—Locally and Beyond
Our outreach extends well beyond Soldiers Hill:
- Supporting local families: We work closely with Anglicare Ballarat to provide clothing and furniture free of charge to clients in need, helping restore comfort, stability, and dignity.
- Helping communities overseas: Items such as spectacles and typewriters are donated through trusted partners to support education and daily life in under-resourced regions around the world.
Every item donated and every purchase made helps continue this vital work.

Our dedicated volunteers make everything possible. From sorting and pricing donations to keeping the shop tidy and welcoming, our team gives generously of their time, energy, and care. Parish members also assist with deliveries, pick-ups, and occasional tip runs—small acts that ensure the Op Shop runs smoothly week after week.
Volunteering at St John’s is not only a service but a deeply rewarding way to give back, build community, and make a meaningful difference.
