Parish Governance

St John’s Anglican Church, Soldiers Hill, is part of the Anglican Diocese of Ballarat and is governed according to the Constitution, Canons, and Regulations of the Anglican Church of Australia.

Parish governance helps us to carry out our mission with integrity, transparency, and good stewardship.
We give thanks for the many parishioners who offer their time, wisdom, and care in leadership.

Parish Council

The Parish Council works with the Rector to guide the life, mission, and administration of the parish.
Council members are elected annually at the Parish Meeting.

The Parish Council is responsible for:

  • supporting the worshipping life of the parish
  • overseeing parish finances and budgeting
  • caring for buildings and property
  • encouraging ministry and outreach
  • ensuring good governance and accountability

Wardens and Councillors play a vital role in helping St John’s flourish as a community of faith and service.

Annual Meeting of Parishioners

Each year, St John’s holds its Annual Meeting of Parishioners, during which:

  • the Annual Report is received
  • the financial statements are presented
  • Wardens, Parish Councillors, and Synod Representatives are elected
  • key updates are shared about ministry, property, and mission

Copies of recent Annual Reports are available on request.

Synod Representatives

Elected parish representatives serve on the Diocesan Synod, participating in the governance and stewardship of the wider Church.
Their role helps connect St John’s with the mission, ministry, and decisions of the Diocese.
