Sermons & Reflections
Preaching at St John’s seeks to open the Scriptures, deepen our faith, and help us recognise God’s presence in our daily lives.
Our sermons and reflections offer encouragement, challenge, and hope as we follow Christ together.
Here you will find occasional sermons, seasonal reflections, and teaching offered throughout the life of our parish.
Finding God in Scripture
Each week we hear God’s Word proclaimed — sometimes familiar, sometimes surprising, always inviting us deeper into the mystery of Christ.
As the Thirty-Nine Articles remind us, “Holy Scripture containeth all things necessary to salvation” (Article VI).
Our preaching begins from that conviction: that God speaks through Scripture to form, teach, and renew us.
Our sermons draw on:
- the Anglican and Catholic tradition
- contemporary biblical scholarship
- pastoral experience
- the prayerful rhythms of the Church year
Whether preached on a Sunday, a feast day, or at a special service, each sermon seeks to connect the Gospel with real life.
